LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)

Businesses and individuals with lifts or lifting equipment in the building have the responsibilities to comply with legislation. Among these responsibilities is the requirement to inspect and maintain this equipment regularly and keep a record of this and any defects found. The Health and Safety Executive also states that all equipment used at work must be thoroughly examined by a competent and fully trained person.

 REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLY WITH LOLER

 

  • Must be safe to use for all users and free from any health and safety risk
  • Indicates how much can it carry or in other terms it must indicate its SWL (Safe Working Load)
  • All mechanisms are up to its standard wear and tear
  • Must be performed by a qualified or competent LOLER inspector

 

  • Action any defective component listed on assessment report If there is any
  • Must clearly state instruction of usage, If applicable
  • Must be fitted with safety and emergency features in the event of emergency
